Village Hotel Watford

Organising a spa weekend for 9 very busy women is no easy feet. Working around schedules, location, budgets and what people would like to do over the weekend can be tricky. We looked at Airbnb, we looked at Treatwell, we looked everywhere. And then I remembered The Village hotel I went to one Christmas party with work and we were all set to go!

We decided to head to the Watford branch as that was our closest one.  On arrival, they looked busy but quickly got us checked in and confirmed our booking for dinner that evening. They have a self-service check in system but I have to admit we couldn't find our booking number and figured it'd be quicker to just speak to someone! We had used both the Welcome to Friday and Satisfaction Saturday deals as part our stay (as some were coming and going as per schedules).

Rooms

I really liked the rooms at The Village, they're spacious and the beds are very comfy. We had 3 rooms in total for the 6 of us on each night - only one of the room bathrooms was not very clean. It took a bit of sorting but the house keeping team came up and cleaned it as soon as we managed to get hold of them.  Overall we were very happy with the rooms at the Village Hotel.

Food

After we got settled in, our next task was to go find some food!  We love that most of the branches have a Starbucks and were happy to get our hands on our caramel lattes/chai teas/ earl greys knowing that they would be good.

On Friday we used the Welcome to Friday deal which was £69 per room including a 2 course meal and glass of prosecco.  For those of us staying on Friday we added on breakfast which was £5 extra per person.

Sweet potato and chilli soup
Teriyaki Salmon with black rice salad and kale

Spinach and sweet potato curry with okra and popadoms

Chocolate fudge cake - I didn't fancy any of the desserts from the set menu and they let me swap for this!

On Saturday we went for the Satisfaction Saturday deal which £95 per room and included a 2 course dinner and breakfast the next day.

Trio of hummus with tortilla chips

Village 1/2 pound burger

BBQ pork tacos

Salmon Poke Bowl

They were accommodating throughout; allowing us to swap pudding or chose something from the main menu instead. They were very very busy but they still managed to maintain a good standard of service.

At breakfast they had a good choice of cereals, fruit and English breakfast items. It's not the best breakfast we've had and there were a few thing missing for us. Things we would have improved on - access to tea/coffee instead of having to wait for a waiter to ask for it and replenishing the hot food items before they ran out. Having said that, the breakfast was still good and there was plenty of variety.

Amenities

These were the most impressing thing for me! The last time we went on a spa weekend we found ourselves fighting for jacuzzi time but the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were amazing here.  They were all really well maintained, the pool water was a good temperature and the jacuzzi was really spacious. It's this that makes me want to go back!

 Conclusion

In general the hotel has a really lovely vibe to it  - it's modern, clean and chic. It's bustling and you get the sense that there are things happening around the place. The staff there are welcoming and they want to make things as easy and friendly as they can. For me the best things of this hotel were the food and the spa and I'm already looking at going back for another spa weekend!
