Turtle Bay

I've loved Turtle Bay ever since it opened in Ealing a few years ago; I'm all for the local gems. I've brought friends and family here lots of times and have always have always had a good experience with the Caribbean food they serve. This is also one of my favourite local places to grab a drink - they have a great happy hour!

Food:

Over the years I've tried a wide variety of their dishes.
They do a set of 3 starters for £14; my favourites being the crisp chilli squid, jerk pit wings and the trini doubles. They do a few things that are a bit more out there like crispy whitebait.

On days where I've been less hungry I've gone for a salad - the last one I had was the festival salad with crispy squid. This is one of the few places where I sit down to decide and actually hope I'm in the mood for salad!

Their wraps are great for lunch and are good value for money.  Nowadays I tend to go for their one pots which usually consist of a curry and rice. The last one I had was the curry shrimp and mango curry with rice and roti.
I have in the past had issues with bringing veggie friends here as they didn't used to have as many veg options but they seem to be expanding this on the menu.

I usually always get a dessert here - my two favourites are the dark chocolate brownie and the spiced rum and chocolate pot. The brownie is manageable for someone like me who prefers savoury. If you're going for the chocolate pot, bring a friend!  They do a great happy hour deal and I've come to turtle bay just for a few drinks with friends.

Ambience and service:

The atmosphere at Turtle Bay is really fun. There's a chilled out vibe and the restaurant is decorated accordingly with a beachside bar vibe to it. This is one of my favourite things about this place and it's definitely what drew us in initially.

In general the service here has been good. Staff are generally attentive and are helpful with making choices. There can be times when the service can be slow and it takes a while to be seated and served but this is to be expected when busy.

Conclusion:

Turtle Bay has a chilled out vibe and this will always be my local go to place for cocktails with girls. Come to Turtle Bay for some yummy, unpretentious Jamaican food.
