Élan Cafe (Brompton Road)

Being one of the prettiest cafés in London and continuously seeing it on our social media my friend and I decided had to pay Élan Cafe a visit. We decided to go on probably one of their most popular days of the year - Valentine's Day.

When we arrived we gave our name at the desk and were asked to wait outside. We quickly saw the queue and realised that we might have to wait a while but decided to persevere (we're both a little instacrazy!).
They had a separate queue for the coveted flower wall table. We waited for around 30-40 minutes which at the time felt quite a while. However when we got inside we realised it was worth the wait.

The flower wall - you can see why everyone wants to sit in front of a giant wall of flowers

Food:

Having just eaten lunch (see my Swinger post) and donuts (more on this next time) we weren't too hungry and decided to share some snacks and much needed coffee.

We went for the buttermilk chicken goujons with a smoked paprika ketchup (£6.50) and courgette and halloumi fries with a harissa sour cream sauce (£6.50).  They have a vast array of cakes in the front that you can pick from - we loved being able to see what was on offer before choosing. I went for a chocolate canele with strawberry coulis by Babelle and my friend went for cake by Pearls and Groove (£4.50 each). To go with our cakes we both got a latte (£4.80).

I haven't got a sweet tooth so this size dessert was perfect for me

The quantity of food for two small, already fed girls was just perfect. The goujouns and fries together would make a perfect meal for one if you were hungry. The food along with the sauces was tasty and the cakes were a good size to not give you too much of a sugar hit. I'm quite fussy about my coffee and was very happy with this one.

Service:

They were very accommodating once we got inside - we wanted to switch our table and despite being busy they did this quickly. They explained the menus and answered any questions we had about the food we wanted to order. The food came very quickly and over all we were were happy with the service.

Ambience:

Well this is the reason we came to this cafe - we'd seen all the pretty pictures on Instagram and Facebook. It's a busy place and can get a little crowded. However this is made up for by the decor and vibe of the cafe. It's stylishly decorated in pastel coloured flowers and reminds of you of the chicness you'd expect to find in Paris. The food display at the front draws you in and you makes you want to order everything on display!

Conclusion:

We were essentially drawn in by the exterior of this place and were pleasantly surprised to find that this hadn't compromised the quality of the food.  It's a high end cafe in Knightsbridge and so we were expecting to pay a little more; we felt it was worth the money for the overall experience of good service, taste and the vibe. As I'm typing this I'm arranging another visit to this cafe and can't wait to try something different.
